Frequently Asked Questions

Don't see your question answered? Let me know what you're wondering by contacting me today.

During our phone call, we can discuss your needs and how I can help. In addition, this is your opportunity to ask me questions. If you are agreeable, I can schedule your first session. All I will need to get started is your name, e-mail address, and phone number to send you the electronic new client forms. Then you will receive an e-mail with a link to the client portal (HIPAA compliant) to complete.

An important part of our conversation will be ensuring that my clinical experience is a good match for your needs. In the event, that you have needs that are outside the scope of my practice I am happy to provide you with names of other professionals who will be able to help you. This way no matter what you have taken the first step to living your best life!

I prepare for our session by reviewing your responses to the new client forms. During our initial session, I will ask questions to gain a better sense of you, your history, and we can discuss your goals for our counseling sessions.

Each person has different needs and goals for counseling, it will be different depending on the individual. I tailor my therapeutic approach to your specific needs.

Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them. The amount of counseling needed depends on your goals, your desire for personal development, your commitment, and the factors that are driving you to seek therapy in the first place.

Throughout the therapeutic process, I will monitor your progress using objective measures, and have ongoing conversations with you about how you are progressing.

Once you have met your goals, your sessions would normally end unless you prefer maintenance sessions. In the event that in the future you need my services, you know that help is only a click away.

Florida does not currently allow psychologists to prescribe medications. If in my clinical opinion, you may benefit from medications I would recommend a consultation with a psychiatrist.

YES, except when the law requires otherwise. Examples would include:

  • You report you want to harm yourself or harm someone else
  • You report emotional, physical, or sexual abuse and/or neglect of a minor, disabled adult, or elderly person
  • Court order signed by a judge

This depends on many variables. Based on the information disclosed in the first session I will provide you with my clinical recommendation. We will discuss what makes the most sense for you (i.e., work schedule, finances, etc.)

I am NOT an in-network provider for any insurance company. I believe in providing the best possible treatment that is not dictated by insurance companies. As I always say, you do not need to have a diagnosed condition to benefit from online counseling. HOWEVER, I am happy to provide documentation for you to submit to your insurance company as an out-of-network claim. Insurance coverage is subject to the terms and conditions of your plan.

Yes, I will need to have their written authorization to charge their credit card; and their signed acknowledgment of understanding they will not have written or verbal access to any of the content of your online counseling without your written consent.
